First Quarter Online Ad Revenues Reach $2.8 billion
12-06-2005
June 12th, 2005 .- According to the latest
report from Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers,
in the first quarter of 2005, ad revenues at the Internet have reached
U$ 2.8 billion, 26 percent more than the same period of 2004 and 4 percent
over the last quarter of 2004. The report tracked online ads of all companies
that sell online advertising.
The performance of this quarter follows the natural
extension of last year's growth, which increased 33 percent compared to
the previous year.
This vigorous growth takes place despite the fact
that the Internet is responsible for 15 percent of media consumption,
yet only responsible for 5 percent of the amount of advertising.
Researchers believe that more traditional advertisers
are going to be attracted to the Internet because of its capability to
offer "more compelling offerings than in the past to deliver rich
media and brand building", said Pete Petrusky, director of new media
at IAB and PWC.
