Microsoft Intends to Improve RSS
26-06-2005
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a technology
that notifies subscribers every time new information is posted by news
publishers and bloggers. Microsoft intends to improve it by allowing it
to better support ordered lists of information.
The RSS works today in a way that its feeds are ordered according to
the time the messages are sent. Microsoft wants to extend its use out
of the bonds of news. "
there are applications of RSS that aren't
about news. Like Audible's NY Times Best Seller list, or an iTunes music
playlist, or lists of Sharepoint documents, or browser bookmarks."
said blogging pioneer Dave Winer.
Microsoft has already confirmed its efforts to improve RSS. It is expected
an official announcement at any moment.
